We Need to Talk About Kevin Blu-ray (R)
Movie: 3 and 1/2 stars out of 4
Disc: 3 stars out of 4
Inexcusably ignored by the Oscar nominating committee, this skin-crawling psychological thriller from writer/director Lynne Ramsay (based on the novel by Lionel Shriver) busts out of the gate and never takes a breather. In perhaps her finest performance to date, Tilda Swinton plays the mother of the title character (played at various points by three superb juvenile actors), a child that was born evil and only grows more loathsome with age. The wildly out-of-sequence narrative and often spastic editing goes too far too often but the story itself will leave you unhinged and spent.
