COLUMBUS (AP) -- There are still seven spots open on the U.S. Olympic shooting team, and trials at Fort Benning could determine who fills them.
The shooting team trials are to begin Friday and run through June 12 at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit.
The event will feature competitors in smallbore .22-caliber rifle and pistol in three matches over three days. Scores from the matches and the top two finals will determine the Olympic team members.
Two spots still are left in the rapid fire pistol, and one slot each in men's rifle prone, men's and women's three position rifle, men's free pistol and women sport pistol.
The Olympic Team Trials is part of a partnership between the U.S. Olympic Committee, the national governing bodies and local committees.
