Aimee Copeland has been inspiring the whole country for the last few weeks. She has shown utmost strength and bravery ever since regaining consciousness and becoming aware of the true impact of her zip-line accident in early May.
The flesh-eating bacteria that infected her after a fall in the Tallapoosa River has taken away both of her hands and one of her feet. But learning that she is now breathing on her own is welcome news. When her father shares that she has a positive outlook for her future and still shows her usual humor, it makes me wonder, "Where is this courage coming from?" and I am reminded of a Quranic Verse, which states, "No soul is burdened beyond its capacity."
This ordeal is nothing less than a nightmare for everyone involved, but the way Aimee has handled the situation is nothing but extraordinary. The outpour of love, support and compassion by the local community is heartwarming.
Best wishes and prayers for Aimee and her family. She is a true inspiration.
