The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships on April 20-22 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center drew nearly 18,000 people.
The four-day attendance figures of 17,811 was a 27 percent increase from the 13,978 in Cleveland last year.
Alabama won the national title for the second year in a row.
"The 2012 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship proved to be a very successful event, not only from the venue perspective with Gwinnett Arena in the national spotlight, but as an overall economic driver to the local economies in Gwinnett and Atlanta," said Stan Hall, executive director of Gwinnett Sports Commission. This event was a great example of the partnership that continues to evolve between the Gwinnett Sports Commission and the Atlanta Sports Council to make our area a nationally recognized sports destination. Truly, a win-win for the entire region."
