Ga. Perimeter College to lay off about 185 workers

ATLANTA (AP) -- The interim leader of Georgia Perimeter College says the school plans to lay off about 185 employees as part of a broader effort to cut spending.

Georgia Perimeter Interim President Rob Watts unveiled the plans on Friday.

They also include increased class sizes and will involve faculty teaching more courses.

Watts said the job cuts won't affect tenure or tenure-track faculty members. The college employs about 3,110 people, including 390 tenure and tenure-track faculty.

The two-year school is trying to cope with what could be a $25 million deficit next year.
