Offices closed but garbage service will occur on holiday

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett's government offices will be closed on Monday, due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The exception will be the operations "required for the comfort and safety of the citizens."

But the holiday will not interfere with garbage pick-up officials announced.

Haulers will follow their normal trash schedules and their call centers will be open. However, the Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Recycling Call Center will be closed that day.

Residents can visit www.sustainablegwinnett.com to find their hauler's contact information.

Since we are ALWAYS told to call our hauler direct ANYWAY, why doesn't Gwinnett Government just get out of the loop and refund the service fee they collect for NOT BEING available?

Or would we have to pay MORE if you were available, so that's how you save us money?

Being paid and Not available is a trait of CHICAGO and we are NOT in IL.

When you call the county all you get is 'lip service' They collect in advance for garbage collection making money off the interest. If we cut the county out and their 'fair share' and pay our haulers it may be a better plan. Get the county out of this business and let the private companies lower cost due to competition.
