SUWANEE -- The Gwinnett County Board of Education held a special called meeting on Thursday to approve four new principal positions.
Phyllis Dartt will become the principal at Cedar Hill Elementary, Angie Pacholke will move to Freeman's Mill, Crystal Cooper takes over at Sycamore Elementary and Michael Zinn is the new Berkmar High principal.
All of the appointments will be effective June 1 except Pacholke's, which is July 2. They are all either members or graduates of the Gwinnett County Public School's Quality-Plus Leader Academy Aspiring Principal Program.
Dartt, who has been employed by GCPS since 1991, was an assistant principal at Cooper Elementary since 2007. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University and advanced degrees from the University of Georgia. Dartt will replace Susan Bearse who is moving to Berkeley Lake Elementary.
Pacholke will leave Rock Springs Elementary to replace Marian Hicks, who retired. Pacholke holds degrees from Circleville Bible College, the University of Georgia and Ball State University.
Cooper, an assistant principal at Bethesda Elementary since 2008, began her career teaching in public schools in New Jersey. She earned degrees from William Paterson University, the University of Georgia and the University of West Georgia.
Zinn will replace Ken Johnson, who is the new principal at Archer High. Zinn, who has been an assistant principal at Archer since 2010, began his teaching career in Bartow County and was also an administrator in Oconee County. He holds degrees from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Kennesaw State University, Georgia State University and Walden University.
