GCPS students receive military academy appointments

Students in Gwinnett County Public Schools were recently honored for having received military academy appointments. In addition to the prestige of attending the academies, the 13 honorees earned more than $5 million in scholarship money.

GCPS Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks said the appointments should make the entire community proud.

"These students represent all that is good in our public schools and in America. As an educator and a proud American I salute them for their achievement and for their future service to our country," Wilbanks said.
