DULUTH -- Efforts during the Gwinnett Gladiators' Pink in the Rink weekend paid off big for one local breast cancer organization, as the hockey team recently delivered a $9,000 check.
The Gladiators presented the check to The Sport of Giving, a local nonprofit that raises money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer and provides care and prevention throughout Gwinnett. The Sport of Giving was the leading fundraiser during "Pink in the Rink," which was held at Gladiator games March 2 through 4.
The nonprofit helped with ticket sales, a jersey auction and sales of commemorative team merchandise.
"It is a great community-based organization that does so much to help in the fight against cancer," Gladiators President Steve Chapman said.
"Pink in the Rink" raised a total of nearly $50,000 this year.
