Berkmar, Duluth, Providence win state sportsmanship awards

Berkmar, Duluth and Providence Christian were selected for 2011-12 Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Awards, which are given to one school in each of the state's regions by the Georgia High School Association and the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation. Winder-Barrow also won the Region 8-AAAA award.

Providence has received the honor four years in a row and five of the past six years.

The award, introduced in 2006, is given for sportsmanship during competitions by athletes, coaches, parents and fans.

I remember one of the awarded schools playing Archer in football this past season. There was a play where one player was hurt due to a hard hit, and as he lay on the ground, one assitant coach and several players acted a fool, celebrating and such. Where do they find these garbage awards?
