SNELLVILLE -- Police believe a woman charged with urinating on the side of a Snellville sports retailer had made a habit of relieving herself in public.
Snellville police arrested Utama Whitehead, 37, in a Wednesday evening incident at Hibbett Sports at 1905 Ga. Highway 124.
A 32-year-old mother of three from Loganville told police she witnessed Whitehead drop her pants and urinate on the building in full view of her children about 7:30 p.m., according to a police report.
Responding officers recognized Whitehead from a report about a woman urinating in public the previous day. Police had to let her walk on that call, though.
"We located her, but did not observe her on the first occasion," Snellville police Chief Roy Whitehead said in an email Friday, "and there were no witnesses available or willing to be contacted."
When approached by police Wednesday, Whitehead claimed she was someone else, but a quick check of her fingerprints in an identification system revealed her true identity, the report states. She told police she is homeless.
Whitehead was cited for urination in public and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail, where she remained Friday.
The police chief said he wasn't sure where Whitehead had been living. The alleged witness did not return a message left Friday at her home.
