Three school leaders named

SUWANEE -- Gwinnett County Public Schools has named three new principals to lead Berkeley Lake, Gwin Oaks and Knight elementary schools.

The board unanimously approved Susan Bearse as the new principal at Berkeley Lake Elementary, Tonya Burnley at Gwin Oaks Elementary and Toni Ferguson as principal of Knight Elementary.

All three administrators were appointed due to retirements and current principals transferring to other schools. The new roles are effective June. 1.

Bearse served as principal at Ceder Hill Elementary from 2009 to present and as assistant principal at Chattahoochee Elementary from 2006-09. She will take the helm at Berkeley Lake Elementary as Principal F.A. McLeod retires.

Burnley served as assistant principal at Meadowcreek Elementary from 2007 to present and was a teacher at Snellville and Magill elementary schools.

She will lead Gwin Oaks Elementary, taking the place of Principal Peggy Goodman, who is transferring to Five Forks Middle due to the retirement of Principal Mary Hensien.

Ferguson served as assistant principal at Simonton Elementary in 2011, assistant principal at Alford Elementary from 2007-11 and assistant principal at Norcross Elementary from 2004-07.

She is taking the place of Principal Mona Roberts, who is retiring.
