LAKELAND (AP) -- A student has received a college degree one week before collecting her high school diploma.
Senior Sarah Pearson of Lanier County High School graduated on May 11 from Middle Georgia College.
Pearson, who earned an associate's degree in sociology, will get her high school diploma on Saturday.
Pearson took part of a program called GAMES (Georgia Academy of Aviation, Mathematics, Engineering and Science). It's an on-campus program allowing high school junior and seniors to attend Middle Georgia in Cochran, Ga., and live on campus.
High school students accepted into the program attend college courses alongside freshman and sophomores.
Pearson did not take classes at her high school during her junior and senior years. But her college courses counted as high school credit.
