SUWANEE -- Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Suwanee will award 74 doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine and 28 master's degrees in biomedical sciences at a ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Grand Ballroom of the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. This is the fifth graduating class of biomedical sciences students and the fourth graduating class of doctors of osteopathic medicine for GA-PCOM.
The ceremony will feature a commencement address by Charles Stokes, president of the CDC Foundation in Atlanta. Stokes joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation as executive director when the foundation began operating in 1995. The mission of the CDC Foundation is to help the CDC do more, faster by forging effective partnerships between the CDC and others to fight threats to health and safety. Under his leadership, the CDC Foundation has grown from a staff of two to a staff of more than 40 professionals managing approximately 200 public health programs in partnership with CDC.
Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine is a private, not-for-profit branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, an osteopathic medical school built on a more than 100-year traditiion of educational excellence. GA-PCOM offers the doctor of osteopathic medicine degree, doctor of pharmacy degree, a master's degree in biomedical science and a master's degree in organizational development and leadership.
