ATLANTA (AP) -- Metro Atlanta's public transportation system has scheduled a series of public hearings to present its budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or MARTA, plans to present a proposed fiscal year 2013 operating budget of $434.95 million and a capital funds budget totaling $230.4 million for the capital improvement program and $141.6 million for debt service.
MARTA says the budget proposal takes a fiscally prudent approach since its sales tax revenues are projected to decline by $130 million through fiscal year 2016.
MARTA's board of directors will vote on the final budget on June 11, 2012.
The public hearings will be held in Sandy Springs and Decatur on Tuesday and in Atlanta and College Park on Thursday.
