SNELLVILLE -- A predawn fire scorched a Snellville home in the 3400 block of Golfe Links Drive this morning, where a woman was hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, officials said.
A man living at the two-story home tried to douse flames in the home's garage, but was unsuccessful. The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m.
Fire crews found flames and heavy smoke throughout the home's first floor and garage, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
The fire was brought under control at 5:46 a.m., but the home and two vehicles in the garage were destroyed, Rutledge said.
The man and his wife were outside when firefighters arrived. Rutledge said she was transported to an area hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, Rutledge said.
