Lilburn CID adds plantings to U.S. 29 median

LILBURN -- It's beginning to look like spring along U.S. Highway 29.

Crews began working this past week to add slashes of color to beautify the Lilburn corridor, part of an effort by the Lilburn Community Improvement District.

The enhancements come to eight median areas, recently added during a Georgia Department of Transportation project. The CID is coordinating the installation of landscaping, including plantings and ground cover, along the stretch from Ronald Reagan Parkway to the U.S. Post Office.

The project follows a trend of local business organizations to work to beautify their corridors. The county's newest CID is following suit, said Executive Director Gerald McDowell, to raise the community's profile and attractiveness.

"Fresh landscaping will have a tremendous impact on the entire community by beautifying this gateway corridor into Lilburn," McDowell said. "We know that business and commercial property owners as well as residents have looked forward to seeing this effort take off. The CID is excited to see the project begin this week."
