Mrs. Ann R. Thompson, age 78, of Auburn, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2012 after battling cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Thompson; parents, Carroll and Louis W. Rice; and brother, Robert L. Rice. Mrs. Thompson was born December 12, 1933 in Knoxville, TN and raised in Johnson City, TN. She graduated from East Tennessee State University. In 1970, she moved to Norcross, GA and was employed by the Gwinnett County School System as a teacher where she retired from Lilburn Elementary in 1994. She was an active member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church, Flowery Branch, GA and a member of the Barbara Carpenter/Caring Hearts Bible Fellowship Class. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Debbie Thompson, Buford, GA and Bruce and Tammy Thompson, Dacula, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Carroll and Randall Heard, Auburn, GA; grandchildren: Jared Thompson, Jacksonville, NC, Taylor Thompson, Twenty Nine Palms, CA, Allie Heard, Auburn, GA; great-grandson, Rhett Thompson, Jacksonville, NC; brother, Louis W. Rice, II, Sewanee, TN; sister, Emily R. Chiswell, Gaithersburg, MD; and twelve nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Crook, Reverend Scott Crook, and Reverend Jason Nave officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA.
