LILBURN -- Gwinnett County police are searching for two men who robbed a Lilburn jewelry store at gunpoint last week.
The robbery occurred May 1 at Jewelry Liquidators on Stone Mountain Highway. According to police reports, two "physically fit" black men entered the business just before 5 p.m., carrying a Rolex and asking questions before leaping the counter and producing handguns.
Neither man was masked.
The suspects ordered two employees to the ground while a third was forced to open a safe at gunpoint. A fourth man fled out the back door with his 2-year-old child when the robbers entered the store, police said.
The suspects made out with about $1,000 cash and an unknown amount of jewelry. Store employees, including a worker spinning a sign outside, did not see if the men fled on foot or in a vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, an abandoned vehicle was found at the Columns at Paxton Lanes apartments, less than half a mile from the jewelry store. A witness told police he saw two black males "climb into a dark SUV" and leave the complex.
Both suspects were described as about 5-foot-10 and physically fit with muscular builds.
