ATLANTA (AP) -- Secretary of State Brian Kemp has announced the formation of a committee that will review the state's election code.
Georgia's election code was first enacted in 1964. The Secretary of State's Election Code Review Committee is charged with proposing clarifications and technical changes meant to promote sound election practices and improved organization of the code provisions.
The six-member panel includes Kemp and the general counsels of the state Democratic and Republican parties.
The committee will hold its first meeting later this month and will meet throughout the year with the goal of proposing the revised election code in 2013.
