PREP ROUNDUP: Parkview boys slip by Tift on penalty kicks

TIFTON -- After a scoreless overtime, goalkeeper Diego Casillas saved a pair of Tift County penalty kicks Tuesday night and the visiting Parkview boys soccer team escaped with a 2-1 win (4-3 on PKs) in the second round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.

Jonathan Jarrett, Tyler Stephenson, Zach Welch and Raymond Muro converted kicks in the PK round for the Panthers (15-3-2), who now play at Walton in Friday's quarterfinals. It's a rematch of last year's semifinals, won by Walton.

Parkview took a 1-0 first-half lead in the match when Jarrett's cross was headed in for a goal by Welch. That advantage held until less than three minutes remained in regulation, when Tift (13-2-2) scored the tying goal.

"We missed a ton of opportunities," Parkview boys coach Michael Tolmich said. "Their goalkeeper played very well and we missed a ton of opportunities. At times, I think we played well and at times I think we struggled. We've got to take better advantage of our chances."
