Lawrenceville House Fire
Lightning was the cause of a fire at a home in Lawrenceville on May 8, 2012.
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Firefighters say a lightning strike was the cause of a house fire in Lawrenceville on Tuesday afternoon.
Crews responded to a ranch-style home off Lendl Court at around 4 p.m. and were met with heavy flames and smoke showing through the roof.
When firefighters entered the home to search for victims and battle the blaze, they were able to rescue a pet dog, Gwinnett County Fire spokesman Capt. Eric Eberly said. The residents were not home at the time of the incident, he said.
Eberly said one adult female has been displaced and that the structure is a total loss.
