Winder police seize 900 opium plants

WINDER -- Winder Police on Saturday seized about 900 opium plants based on information that was gathered following a hit-and-run accident.

At about 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Hill's Ace Hardware, witnesses gave police a tag number and physical description of a vehicle that left the scene of an accident, according to a news release. Officers responded to a residence on Northcrest Drive in Winder, and the homeowner led them to the rear of the property where a vehicle was parked that matched the witnesses' description.

The responding officer noticed a large quantity of the opium plant at the rear of the property. The release said the Winder Police detained several residents of the home, and seized the plants. Criminal charges are pending.

The Barrow County Crime Task Force is assisting the Winder Police Department in the investigation.

So that it what I have been smelling the past few months here in Gwinnett. I don't see how these "criminal" charges could be pending. It is obvious they will be found guilty.
