BUFORD -- On Saturday, thousands of people are anticipated to attend the Historic Buford Spring Festival in downtown Buford for a day full of music, sunshine, arts and entertainment.
"(There will be) fun kids activities, a train, great food, stage performances by local schools, Choi Kwang Do Karate, 10 Steps Back, Capital City Express, local craftsmen and vendors, and local businesses," said Dannella Burnett of Oakwood Occasions, who prepares the event. "The weather is going to be beautiful. The public can connect to local restaurants and businesses, have fun, hear great music and there are goody bags for the first 500 people to visit the Buford Business Alliance Booth in the center of the festival."
There will also be a chili cook-off for those with the best recipe. The chili must be prepared on site and can only be started at 9 a.m. -- not the night before. At 1 p.m., contestants must enter one pint of chili for judging and one gallon for the public to sample. The winner will take home a trophy.
The Buford Business Alliance is a "not-for-profit organization that brings together the citizens, city leaders civic organizations and the businesses of Buford in a communal spirit. We work together through our festivals, events and other marketing opportunities to promote business and tourism in Buford."
