Home Depot to close Braselton plant, lay off 300

ATHENS (AP) -- Home Depot is closing its Braselton distribution plant that employs 300 workers.

The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer said Friday it's closing the four-year-old plant by the end of this year. Company Spokesman Steve Holmes says that's because the plant isn't as modern as the company's 18 other distribution centers that it uses to move merchandise to its retail stores.

Jackson County may be able to absorb the job losses. Courtney Bernardi of the county's Chamber of Commerce says retailer Bed, Bath and Beyond is planning to hire up to 400 workers for a new plant in the area by the end of 2012.

Been in a HD lately? I guess not. ALmost anyone you ask a question to doesn't know the answer. They just walk away. They have hired very rude people to help customers. Went there a few times lateley and the sales rep didn't even know what I was talking about. HD has really gone overbaord inhiring foreigners that can't hardly speak English nor understand our products in this country. Lowes was a little bit better, but still had the same problem with finding something in the store. Give me my Ace Hardware back.
