BRASELTON -- Local residents can learn more about Braselton through a free six-month program offered by the city.
Applications are being accepted for the 2012 session of the Braselton Citizens Academy, where people can learn about town departments, services and programs.
Monthly sessions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month, starting in May. The classes also include voluntary tours and ride-alongs offered at different times.
"The objectives of the citizens academy are to offer insight on how town agencies function, to promote open lines of communication between citizens and town staff, to provide information on how citizens can utilize the services that the town government offers and to provide a clear understanding of the town's form of government," a press release said.
The class size is limited to 10 participants, all of whom must be 18 or older.
For an application, which is due May 2, email Jennifer Dees at jdees@braselton.net, call at 706-654-5720.
