ESTERO, Fla. -- The Gwinnett Gladiators (41-19-7-4) dropped a 5-3 decision to the Florida Everblades (38-26-2-5) on Friday night at the Germain Arena. Gwinnett couldn't overcome a 2-0 first period deficit in the loss. With the Gladiators loss coupled with a win by the Elmira Jackals, the Gladiators slipped into second place in the ECHL's Eastern Conference.
Florida took a 2-0 lead on the Gladiators through the first 20 minutes with a pair of goals eight minutes apart in the period.
Gwinnett answered in the second period with a pair of power play goals to tie the game at two. Pat Galivan collected his 25th goal of the season as he finished a give-and-go out of the corner with Joey Haddad to get Gwinnett on the board. Sean Duddy added the assist on the power play goal at 11:30 of the second period.
Duddy then posted his first professional goal a little over two minutes later.
Florida regained the lead with 4:18 left in the second period and then extended the lead to two goals midway thorough the third period
The Gladiators were shorthanded with 7:43 left in the third period when Joey Haddad went end-to-end for their final goal of the game.
