NORCROSS -- Sheldon Connor and Frank Warren combined to hold St. Francis to two runs as Wesleyan's baseball team rolled to a 7-2 win in Region 5-A. Connor got the win and went five innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. Warren came on for the two-inning save and struck out three.
Mason Colquitt was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI, but it was Griffin Bone's bases-loaded double that broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth that made the difference for Wesleyan (5-6, 3-2).
BASEBALL
American Heritage (Fla.) 6, Brookwood 4
CARY, N.C. -- Brookwood dropped a 6-4 decision to American Heritage (Fla.) at the National High School Invitational at the USA Baseball Complex. Michael Gouge went 2-for-3, while Cedric Mullins, Garrett Reynolds, Zach Moon and Blake Schuck each went 1-for-3. Ryan Woodard took the loss on the mound for the Broncos (7-4).
Hebron 15, Tallulah Falls 3
TALLULAH FALLS -- P.J. Westbury went five strong innings on the mound and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs as Hebron blasted Talllah Falls 15-3 in Region 8-A on Thursday. Tyler Hutch went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the No. 1 state-ranked Lions (12-1, 9-0).
King's Ridge 12, Providence 10
LILBURN -- Providence gave up two unearned runs in the top of the seventh as the Stars lost 12-10 to King's Ridge in Region 5-A on Thursday. Austin Smith picked up the tough-luck loss on the mound, but went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Luke Henderson started the game and went four innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out four. John Bailey was 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored while Austin Loyd was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored. Christin Stewart hit a two-run homer for the Stars.
BOYS SOCCER
North Gwinnett 1, Peachtree Ridge 0
SUWANEE -- Thomas Perry scored on a bicycle kick goal Thursday night as North Gwinnett defeated Peachtree Ridge 1-0 in Region 7-AAAAA boys soccer. North goalkeeper Logan Drew made five saves for the shutout.
Mill Creek 3, Norcross 1
NORCROSS -- Brandon O'Toole had two goals as Mill Creek got a 3-1 win over Norcross in Region 7-AAAAA on Thursday. Tony Baza got the other goal for the Hawks (10-2, 4-1), while Ethan Norby and Nick Muntean each had an assist. Juan Martinez got the goal for Norcross (4-9-1, 1-4).
Parkview 2, Shiloh 0
SNELLVILLE -- Raymond Muro had both goals as Parkview defeated Shiloh 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAA. Diego Casillas and J.B. Rumbaugh combined in goal for the shutout for the Panthers (8-2-2, 5-0).
Duluth 5, Mountain View 0
DULUTH -- Niko Iotov had two goals as Duluth blanked Mountain View 5-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. Mauricio Martinez, Ivaylo Yordanov and Felipe Morales each added a goal for the Wildcats (8-3-2, 3-2).
Grayson 1, Berkmar 0
LOGANVILLE -- Grayson played down a man with 30 minutes remaining in the game, but pulled out a 1-0 win over Berkmar on Alvaro Pava's goal with a 1:36 to go. Callen Rhodes got the shutout in goal for the Rams (7-6-1, 2-3).
Dacula 4, Archer 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Joe Efford had three goals and Tyler Moore added a goal as Dacula knocked off Archer 4-0 in Region 8-AAAAA. Mason Davenport had three assists and Jori Wahner was perfect in goal for the Falcons (7-7, 2-3).
Buford 2, Cross Keys 1
ATLANTA -- Edgar Villafuerte and Willy Uriostegui each had a goal as Buford nipped Cross Keys in Region 6-AA. Baxter Argo had four saves and got the shutout in goal for the Wolves (10-3, 5-1).
Providence 4, Fellowship 0
ROSWELL -- Josh Platillero and Caleb McQuaig each scored twice to propel Providence to a 4-0 win over Fellowship Christian in Area 5-A. Tyler Marshall added an assist in the win for the Stars (7-5, 3-2).
GIRLS SOCCER
Dacula 4, Archer 1
DACULA -- Makayla Clack scored two goals and Valeria Bermeo had two assists Thursday night as Dacula downed Archer 4-1 in Region 8-AAAAA girls soccer. Katie McAdams and Ruva Chimedza also scored goals for the Falcons (10-2-1, 4-1).
South 4, Centennial 1
SNELLVILLE -- Shaquira Hall had two goals as South defeated Centennial 4-1. Kelly Geary and Jazmyne Simon each had a goal as South improved to 5-8 overall.
Deja Stanek added two assists and Jocelyn Jones had one assist for the Comets. Mallory Sayre had eight saves in goal for South.
Mill Creek 2, Norcross 0
NORCROSS -- Lauren Tanner and Alex Ford each had a goal as Mill Creek defeated Norcross 2-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. Rachel Allred got the shutout in goal for the Hawks (8-3-1, 4-1).
Duluth 2, Mountain View 0
DULUTH -- Jules Luther and Tamaya Tompoe each scored a goal as Duluth blanked Mountain View in Region 7-AAAAA. Jasmine White picked up the shutout in goal for the Wildcats (3-7-1, 2-2).
Grayson 1, Berkmar 0
LOGANVILLE -- Jessica Allen had the lone goal as Grayson defeated Berkmar 1-0 in Region 8-AAAAA. Savannah Shelby got the assist on Allen's goal for the Rams (9-4-1, 3-2).
Collins Hill 4, Meadowcreek 0
SUWANEE -- Dena Cisic had two goals and Loren Mitchell and Paige Hoover added a goal apiece as Collins Hill rolled past Meadowcreek 4-0 in Region 7-AAAAA.
Halla Jibreen and Kamilah Talbi combined for the shutout in goal for the Eagles (7-6, 3-2). Margaret Brummer added two assists.
Lanier 6, Lumpkin Co. 1
SUGAR HILL -- Andrea Araya and Tori Wyant had two goals each as Lanier cruised to a 6-1 win over Lumpkin County in Region 8-AAA.
Wyant also had an assist for the Longhorns (5-6, 5-5) while Maddie Corley had a goal and an assist and Meg Gregory added a goal in the win.
GAC 2, Woodward Academy 2
COLLEGE PARK -- Hannah Huizenga and Kelsey Fervier each scored a goal as Greater Atlanta Christian battled to a 2-2 tie with Woodward Academy.
Danielle Marcano got the assist on Huizenga's goal for the Spartans (11-1-1).
BOYS LACROSSE
Mill Creek 5, Collins Hill 3
HOSCHTON -- Nick Kozlowski had three goals to lead Mill Creek to a 5-3 win over Collins Hill.
Will Peek and Alec Bussink also had a goal each while Will Bryan added two assists for the Hawks (5-6). Peek also picked up an assist in the contest for Mill Creek.
Holin Axley had a goal and two assists for Collins Hill while Tyler Agee and Kyle Burke each scored for the Eagles.
Wesleyan 6, South Forsyth 5
CUMMING -- Blake Davis and Miles Laughlin had two goals each as Wesleyan edged South Forsyth 6-5.
Luke Cowart and Jake Miller added a goal each, while Blake Center had an assist for the Wolves (4-2, 3-1).
BOYS TENNIS
Mill Creek 5, Meadowcreek 0
HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek raised its record to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in Region 7-AAAAA with a 5-0 win over Meadowcreek. Quentin Lavender at No. 1, Adam Gonterman at No. 2 and Tyler Abbott at No. 3 were victorious in singles for Mill Creek. Brad Adkins and Travis Hanes at No. 1 doubles and J.J. Needham and T.J. Millonig at No. 2 doubles were also winners for the Hawks.
Collins Hill 5, Mountain View 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Collins Hill remained undefeated in Region 7-AAAAA as the Eagles rolled to a 5-0 win over Mountain View.
Chris Clark won at No. 1 singles to capture his 50th career win and moved into second all-time on the Collins Hill win list. Tyler Kallgren won at No. 2 singles to notch his 52nd win all-time and remain two ahead of Clark.
Ian Melnik won at No. 3 singles, while Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney at No. 1 doubles and Peyton Rushing and Josh Jackson at No. 2 doubles also captured wins for the Eagles (14-2, 7-0).
Peachtree Ridge 5, Norcross 0
NORCROSS -- Peachtree Ridge swept singles and doubles to get a 5-0 win over Norcross in Region 7-AAAAA. Alex Makarenko at No. 1, Jashith Chopara at No. 2 and Kevin Lim at No. 3 were winners in singles for Peachtree Ridge (6-5, 5-2).
Jacob Kukler and Taylor Foote at No. 1 and Brock Beisel and Alex Peed at No. 2 were victorious in doubles for the Lions.
Buford 5, Dawson Co. 0
BUFORD -- Buford improved to 14-2 overall with a 5-0 sweep of Dawson County.
Colby West won at No. 1 singles while Rob Hunter at No. 2 singles and Alex Turner at No. 3 singles picked up wins. Skyler Wilson and Josh Thompson won at No. 1 doubles and Nicholas Becker and Jabin Stepp won at No. 2 doubles for the Wolves.
Flowery Branch 4, Apalachee 1
FLOWERY BRANCH -- Zach Batt got a win at No. 2 singles, but it wasn't enough as Flowery Branch knocked off Apalachee 4-1 in 8-AAAA North subregion action.
North Oconee 5, Providence 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- North Oconee blanked Providence 5-0 in non-region action at Collins Hill Athletic Club as the Stars dropped to 5-11 overall.
GIRLS TENNIS
Mill Creek 5, Meadowcreek 0
HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek rolled to a 5-0 win over Meadowcreek in Region 7-AAAAA action.
Madison Hahn at No. 1, Allison Weaver at No. 2 and Emily Husfeld at No. 3 were winners in singles for Mill Creek (15-3, 5-1).
Mallory Kolts and Cailey Stevens at No. 1 doubles and Madison Walsh and Jackie Zaczek at No. 2 also got wins for the Hawks.
Peachtree Ridge 4, Norcross 1
NORCROSS -- Peachtree Ridge remained perfect in Region 7-AAAAA with a 4-1 win over Norcross.
Abby Owens at No. 1 and Ali Mills at No. 2 got the wins in singles for Peachtree Ridge (10-1, 7-0). Jessica Northcutt and Erin Mills at No. 1 and Rachel Anderson and Riley Guise at No. 2 got the wins in doubles for the Lions.
Kristie Teoh was a winner at No. 3 singles for Norcross (11-7, 4-3).
North 4, Duluth 1
DULUTH -- North Gwinnett won both doubles matches and two of three singles in a 4-1 win over Duluth in Region 7-AAAAA.
Lizzy Bradley and Elizabeth Moss won at No. 1 doubles and Madison Bolden and Katie Layton won at No. 2 doubles for North (12-5, 5-2).
Arianna Callan won at No. 2 singles and Haley Wix won at No. 3 singles for the Bulldogs.
Collins Hill 4, Mountain View 1
SUWANEE -- Collins Hill took both doubles matches and two out of three singles in a 4-1 win over Mountain View in Region 7-AAAAA.
Maddie Owensby and Cassie Owensby won at No. 1 doubles and Gabriela Orellana and Prachi Patel won at No. 2 doubles for Collins Hill (6-10, 3-4).
Lexi Owensby got a win at No. 2 singles and Lindsay Doktor was a winner at No. 3 singles for the Eagles.
Lanier 3, Johnson-Gainesville 2
SUGAR HILL -- Lauren Byrd played over three hours Thursday and pulled out a three-set victory to lead Lanier to a 3-2 win over Johnson of Gainesville in 8-AAA, Division B action.
Byrd, playing at No. 1 singles, won 6-2, 6-7 (4), 7-5 to clinch the win for Lanier (11-4, 8-4). Byrd trailed 5-3 in the third and deciding set before rallying for the victory.
Other wins came from Carlie Overley at No. 3 singles and Victoria Inman and Genna Foucai at No. 3 doubles.
Buford 4, Dawson Co. 1
BUFORD -- Buford swept all three singles and got a victory at No. 1 doubles in a 4-1 win over Dawson County. Kelley Cohron at No. 1, Annalea Stevens at No. 2 and Savannah Whaley at No. 3 got wins in singles for Buford (12-4).Rebecca Hendrix and Jessica Thompson picked up the win at No. 1 doubles for the Wolves.
Providence 3, North Oconee 2
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Providence took both doubles points and won at No. 1 singles in a 3-2 victory over North Oconee at Collins Hill Athletic Club.
Alex Nele and Katherine Harris won at No. 1 doubles while Robin Ferris and Carly Dubay won at No. 2 doubles for Providence (13-3).
Vani Crist got the win at No. 1 singles for the Stars.
Flowery Branch 5, Apalachee 0
FLOWERY BRANCH -- No. 5 Flowery Branch rolled past Apalachee 5-0 in 8-AAAA North subregion play.
BOYS GOLF
Brookwood 157, Archer 197
SNELLVILLE -- Drew Hutchinson shot a 35 as Brookwood knocked off Archer 157-197 at Summit Chase Country Club.
Philip Westberry had a 40, while Beau Bowland and Patrick Kendrick each had a 41 for the Broncos.
Norman Cobb had a 41 to lead Archer.
Wesleyan takes tri-match over Holy Innocents', Pace
DULUTH -- Cody Solomon shot a 73 and Nick Ross added a 75 as Wesleyan defeated Holy Innocents' and Pace in an 18-hole tri-match at St. Ives Country Club.
Buford 157, West Hall 168
GAINESVILLE -- Steven Wysocki's even-par 36 was followed by Joey Dando's 38 as Buford defeated West Hall 157-168 at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
GIRLS GOLF
Brookwood 84, Archer 104
SNELLVILLE -- Taylor Allen had a 39 and Allison Gammie added a 45 as Brookwood defeated Archer 84-104 at Summit Chase Country Club.
Taylor Ockunzzi had a 51 to lead Archer.
Providence 242, Woodward Academy 247
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brittany Meredith had a 52 as Providence edged Woodward Academy 242-247 at Northwood Country Club.
Holy Innocents' 103, Wesleyan 114
JOHNS CREEK -- Janie Harper and Riley Henning each shot 57, but Wesleyan dropped a 103-114 decision to Holy Innocents' at Country Club of the South.
