Gwinnett Daily Post
Despite missing the last two months after sustaining a season-ending knee injury, Gwinnett Gladiators goaltender Jeff Jakaitis was named to the All-ECHL first team Thursday.
Jakaitis had a 17-6-2 record in 26 games this season with Gwinnett. He set a new team record for most shutouts in one season with five. He still ranks second among ECHL netminders with a 2.03 goals-against average and shares first with a .930 save percentage.
The Rochester, Minn., native was twice named the ECHL goaltender of the week (Dec. 12-18 and Dec. 26-Jan. 1) and was December's goalie of the month.
Jakaitis was injured in a collision with Brandon Wong during Gwinnett's Feb. 4 home game against rival Greenville.
Also named to the team was John Wroblewski, who is in his first season as a professional head coach. He is joined on the bench by Alaska's Rob Murray.
