LAWRENCEVILLE -- Tebowmania has already moved from Denver to the Big Apple, and come May it will be making a stop in Gwinnett County -- but if you want a ticket, you better pray you get one soon.
Tim Tebow -- the former Florida quarterback recently traded to the NFL's New York Jets -- will be speaking at 12Stone Church's Lawrenceville campus on May 2. He'll be joined by best-selling evangelical author John C. Maxwell in "a conversation about leadership and faith."
The event is produced by EQUIP, an organization founded by Maxwell and geared toward the development of effective international Christian leaders. According to its website Thursday morning, tickets (priced at $25, $50 and $100) are still available online.
Tebow is an unabashed Christian well-known for mission trips, sideline prayers and a tireless work ethic. After a Heisman Trophy-winning college career at Florida, his pro ambitions floundered until midseason last year, when he led the Denver Broncos to a number of last-minute wins and a playoff victory.
After the Broncos signed free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets.
"Tim Tebow embraces the responsibility of his influence and understands the power of self-leadership," 12Stone Senior Pastor Kevin Myers said. "We're pleased to host an evening with Tim and John Maxwell for Gwinnett."
12Stone is simply the host of the event and has no control over ticketing. For more information, visit www.iequip.org.
Funds raised by ticket sales go directly to train EQUIP's international ministry leaders.
