Mickey Mouse to visit Suwanee branch of library

SUWANEE -- Calling all Mouseketeers, young and old: Mickey Mouse and other characters from Disney On Ice's "Treasure Trove" are stopping by the Suwanee Library to read a story for attendees Friday at 2 p.m.

"We were delighted when Disney agreed to stop by so that the children could interact with these characters-come-to-life from familiar classic books and movies they love," said Gwinnett County Public Library Executive Director Nancy Stanbery-Kellam. "And for one of them to be Mickey Mouse, well we knew we had hit the jackpot."

The Disney characters will read from the classic story "Peter Pan" as well as another selection from the librarian at the branch.

The librarian shouldn't have a hard time finding another popular Disney tale for story-time because the household name is readily available for check-out.

"Disney materials have always been extremely popular with Gwinnett customers," Stanbery-Kellam said. "The library collection includes hundreds of high quality Disney productions. Animated Disney Classic films are always in demand, and the library plays a key role in providing access to these films to new generations."

Additionally, books based on Disney characters enjoy high circulation and are often particularly appealing to emerging readers."

The library also offers Disney soundtracks for music lovers.

The event ends at 2:45 p.m.

The Suwanee branch is located at 361 Main St.

I didn't know that Obama and his spokesperson, Jay Carney were invited to Suwanee. What big ears they both have.
