Plant sale scheduled for April 17

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett Technical College's Environmental Horticulture program has scheduled its annual community plant sale for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 17 at the Gwinnett Technical College Greenhouse.

The event is a partnership with Gwinnett County Public Library, and it will feature landscape designer and author Jane Bath, who will be speaking at 11 a.m. about gardening and landscape design solutions included in her book, "The Landscape Design Answer Book."

"We're very excited about this year's spring plant sale," said Aaron Poulsen, environmental horticulture program director. "I'm looking forward to selling our plants to raise funds for our program and providing an opportunity for attendees to talk with Jane about landscaping for their home."

The Gwinnett Tech Environmental Horticulture program holds the plant sale annually to sell student-grown plants to the community. The plant sale features a wide assortment of annuals, perennials, herbs, tropicals, houseplants and vines.

Annuals include petunias, dianthus, wax begonias, coleus, marigolds, melampodium and gomphrena. Perennials include phlox, verbena, ice plant, rudbeckia, agastache, liatris, heuchera, nippon lily, hostas and creeping jenny. Herbs include mint, oregano, thyme, sage, dill, basil and thai basil. Tropicals include shell ginger, brazilian candles, ginger lily and canna. House plants include begonias, wandering jew, spider plants, pothos and philodendron. Vines include clematis, confederate jasmine, carolina jessamine and trumpet honeysuckle.

The GTC Greenhouse is located next to building 600 on the Gwinnett Tech campus.
