LAWRENCEVILLE -- While "Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale" continues to amaze audiences, the Aurora Theatre is already planning its shows for its 17th season.
The theater recently announced five of its six main stage shows starting with the musical "Sweet Charity" taking stage on Aug. 2.
The rest of the season is planned as Harold Pinter's "Betrayal" Oct. 4 to 28, Aurora's original "Christmas Canteen" Nov. 23 to Dec. 23, Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's "BOB" Jan. 17 to Feb. 10, and Marc Camelotti's "Don't Dress For Dinner" May 2 to 26. There is one musical that is still to be announced slated for March 14 to April 7.
Besides sharing the next season's shows, the Aurora Theatre also announced that it is raising some extra dough because the theater was given a challenge by a local business.
"Gwinnett Federal Credit Union has issued us a challenge," a recent press release said. "We need you to take the L.E.A.P. to lead, energize and assure our progress. If we can raise $100,000 by Labor Day, Gwinnett Federal Credit Union will donate $50,000 in matching funds. This challenge comes at a critical time. Your donation helps to fund and sustain Aurora's ground breaking work like Camp Aurora, Learning Library, Christmas Canteen, Aurora's New Musical Initiative and much more."
