LAWRENCEVILLE -- An elderly Lawrenceville man is out of the hospital and in jail, four days after police believe he killed his wife then attempted suicide.
Alex Blatt, 70, is facing a malice murder charge in the death of his wife Eva, 62, earlier in the week.
According to an arrest warrant, police believe Blatt killed his wife through asphyxiation and then left a note saying he killed the victim. The warrant said the crime occurred between early Sunday and Monday evening.
Officers found the pair at their Summerfield Way home in Lawrenceville Monday evening, when they performed a welfare check after the couple missed an appointment.
Investigators said they believe Blatt attempted suicide after his wife's demise. A police spokesman said the man was still in the hospital Friday, before he was booked into jail. He is being held without bond.
A preliminary report of the investigation has not been released.
