North Gwinnett senior Kwesi Abakah made a commitment to the Northeastern University men's basketball program after visiting the Boston school last weekend.
The 6-foot-9, 200-pounder helped the Bulldogs to the Elite Eight as a senior, earning second-team All-Region 7-AAAAA honors as well as Gwinnett Tipoff Club player of the month honors for January. He also was selected for next week's Gwinnett Senior All-Star Game.
Abakah had offers and interest from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Louisiana-Monroe, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Colorado State and Emory before choosing Northeastern, which plays in the Colonial Athletic Association with Georgia State.
