DULUTH -- "Gimme That Girl" may sound like fighting words for many people, but not when it's coming out of the mouth of country singer Joe Nichols. That's just one of his No. 1 hits that he's planning to play on Saturday at Wild Bill's.
"I love Wild Bill's," he said. "It's one of those rowdy places that it gets loud and crazy during my shows."
He's back on the road to promote his latest album, "It's All Good," his first follow-up album since his "Greatest Hits" released in early 2011.
"Actually, I didn't want a greatest-hits album out there," the singer said with a laugh. "I think it's one of those things that people have more hits than I do have a greatest-hits album, you know? I'm a young guy."
But that didn't stop him from churning out two albums in a year. Nichols decided on the newest album's name because it's a fairly broad title.
"We could've called it something more prolific, I suppose," he said. "But 'It's All Good" fits where my mind sits right now."
The 10-song album is a little over 30 minutes long and some of the tunes have already become favorites to the singer.
"There's a couple of them that are in my wheelhouse that I love -- my kind of music that I love," Nichols said. "'I Can't Take My Eyes Off You,' is one because I think it's a well-done song that has a cute little message. Another is 'How I Wanna Go,' because life isn't all about going out with a bang; it's about spending quality time with friends and family."
Those who are major fans of some of his other hits, like "Brokenheartsville" and "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," should prepare to hear those songs, too.
"We'll play a lot of the older stuff because it's our bread-and-butter," he said. "We will also throw in some unique covers while we're there. It's an entertaining show."
Randy Montana opens the show at 9:30 p.m.
