WINDER -- Officials are searching for a 51-year-old Barrow County man last seen walking along a road Monday afternoon.
James Gunter Sr., of Winder, was last seen about 4:30 p.m. that day on Freeman Johnson Road, walking toward Ga. Highway 211 in Barrow County. Family members called the Barrow County Sheriff's Office about a day later with word that Gunter had vanished.
"Sheriff's officials and assisting personnel have searched the area and have been unable to locate (Gunter)," department spokesman Investigator Matt Guthas said in a release Thursday morning.
Guthas said the search is continuing, and more resources are being deployed to attempt to locate Gunter. He's not suspected to have left in a vehicle, and investigators have found no signs of foul play, Guthas said.
Gunter is described as a white male, 5 feet 1 inch tall and about 130 pounds, with brown eyes and graying brown hair. He may be wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a blue baseball cap, Guthas said.
Officials ask anyone who has seen or heard from Gunter to contact Barrow County Central Communications at 770-307-3122.
