Irene Samples Echols, age 83 of Duluth, passed away Sunday March 18, 2012. Irene was a lifelong resident of Duluth and was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Louie T. Echols in 1987. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Echols of Duluth, brother Pete Hawkins of Decatur and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday March 22, 2012 at Bill Head Funeral Home Duluth Chapel, with Rev. Sammy Everett officiating. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Pkwy., Duluth, GA 30097 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Duluth Chapel 770-476-2535.
