SAVANNAH (AP) -- Police say a 24-year-old Duluth man is facing charges that include striking a police animal after authorities say he slapped a police horse during the St. Patrick's Day festival in Savannah.
The Savannah Morning News reports that Sebastian Konrad Laski is accused of slapping the horse, Bella, on the rear shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, as three officers on horseback were maintaining crowd control.
Police say that when officers tried to arrest Laski, he went limp and fell to the ground. Authorities say he then stood up and ran, leaving his shirt behind as three mounted officers pursued him through the crowd.
Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said Laski was apprehended by officers on foot. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.

We can assume the overindulgence of green beer by the young man; wonder if the cops got into the spirit of the day by using their shillelaghs?
