GCPD's records window moving during renovations

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett County Police Department's records window will be moved from headquarters during renovations, meaning residents seeking open records documents and other files will have to visit the department's central precinct to do so.

The records window at GCPD headquarters in Lawrenceville officially closed Monday as part of an ongoing, $3.5-million renovation project. The renovation is scheduled to take about three months, police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.

In the meantime, anyone requiring open records will have to pick them up at the central precinct, located at 3125 Satellite Boulevard in Duluth. The window there will mirror that at headquarters, offering expungement packages, criminal history consent forms, local records check requests, destroyed letter requests, open records requests and more.

Central precinct records will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
