ATHENS -- Mason Felt pitched a no-hitter while striking out 12 and walking none as Hebron Christian blanked Athens Academy 7-0 in Region 8-A on Thursday.
Felt's solid pitching was backed by P.J. Westbury and Tyler Hutch as the plate. Wesbury went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Hutch was also 2-for-3 with homer. Nathan Holt added a 1-for-2 night with a pair of RBIs. Hebron improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the region.
BASEBALL
Lanier 5, Cedar Shoals 4
ATHENS -- Lanier rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh and then held on for a 5-4 win over Cedar Shoals. T.J. Richardson drove in Blake Forte with an RBI-single to tie the game at 4-4 and Stephen Rusch followed with an RBI-single to score Kevin Clark to give the Longhorns the 5-4 lead. Austin Gaskins (1-0), who came on in the fifth, worked a scoreless bottom of the seventh to secure Lanier's fourth win in a row. Rusch finished the game 3-for-4 while Richardson went 2-for-4 and Clark was 2-for-3. Matthew Ramsay added a 2-for-3 night at the plate for the Longhorns (5-3).
Brookwood 9, South 1
SNELLVILLE -- Clint Carr went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Lucas Sims gave up one run and struck out 10 as Brookwood knocked off South Gwinnett 9-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. Tre Lawrence added a 2-for-3 night at the plate with an RBI and Garrett Reynolds was 2-for-4 for the Broncos. Michael Gouge and Zach Moon each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Brookwood (4-1, 1-0).
GIRLS TENNIS
Mill Creek 5, Duluth 0
DULUTH -- Mill Creek remained undefeated in Region 7-AAAAA with a 5-0 sweep of Duluth. Madison Hahn at No. 1, Allison Weaver at No. 2 and Lauren Atkinson at No. 3 got wins in singles. Cailey Stevens and Mallory Kolts at No. 1 and Natalie Martinez and Abbi Jordan at No. 2 were victorious in doubles for the Hawks (13-2, 4-0).
Archer 4, Dacula 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer swept both doubles matches and picked up a pair of wins in singles as the Tigers defeated Dacula 4-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. Lauren Dalton and Kaitlyn Balsamides won at No. 1 doubles and Madison Wyngaert and Stephanie Foster won at No. 2 doubles for Archer. Kimberly Anderson got a win at No. 2 singles and Sydney Sorenson won at No. 3 singles as the Tigers moved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the region.
Brookwood 5, Berkmar 0
LILBURN -- Brookwood rolled to a 5-0 win over Berkmar in Region 8-AAAAA. Gabby Griffith at No. 1, Sheridan Schuster at No. 2 and Rebecca Norton at No. 3 won in singles. Allie Gardner and Katie Kraft at No. 1 and Kerryn Roome and Hannah Howell at No. 2 won in doubles for the Broncos (9-3, 5-0).
Mt. View 4, Meadowcreek 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View took blanked Meadowcreek 4-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. Courtney Conley at No. 1 and Victoria Mock at No. 2 won in singles, while Megan Mullins and Veran Gogel at No. 1 and Bri Norris and Allison Tham at No. 2 won in doubles for the Bears (4-4, 1-2). The match at No. 3 singles was not completed due to rain.
Peachtree Ridge 4, North 1
SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 7-AAAAA with a 4-1 win over North Gwinnett. Jessica Northcutt at No. 1 singles and Abby Owens at No. 2 singles got wins for Peachtree Ridge. The Lions swept doubles with wins by Ali Mills and Erin Mills at No. 1 and Rachel Anderson and Riley Guise at No. 2. Isabel Balsavage got the lone win at No. 3 singles for North (5-3, 1-1).
Parkview 4, Lakeside-DeKalb 1
LILBURN -- A pair of doubles wins propelled Parkview to a 4-1 win over Lakeside-DeKalb. Daron Blankenship and Kristin Miller won at No. 1 doubles and Katie Linton and Maddie Carswell won at No. 2 doubles. Megan Reeves picked up a win at No. 2 singles and Kady Litwer won at No. 3 singles for Parkview.
Norcross 3, Collins Hill 1
SUWANEE -- Norcross took a rain-shortened 3-1 win over Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA. Abbie Wehr won at No. 1 singles for Collins Hill.
Providence 4, St. Francis 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Providence took both doubles matches and won at No. 1 and 2 singles in a 4-1 victory over St. Francis at the Collins Hill Athletic Club. Alex Mele and Abby Mazza won at No. 1 doubles and Carley Dubay and Katherine Harris won at No. 2 doubles. Vani Crist got a victory at No. 1 singles and Alex Schlesener won at No. 2 singles for the Stars (8-2).
BOYS TENNIS
Brookwood 5, Berkmar 0
SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood remained undefeated as the Broncos rolled to a 5-0 win over Berkmar in Region 8-AAAAA action. Mark Guentert at No. 1, Drew Wendel at No. 2 and Ryan Pridgeon at No. 3 got singles wins. David Brown and Matt Jones at No. 1 and Jody Chan and Anarin Montroy at No. 2 picked up wins in doubles for Brookwood (12-0, 6-0).
Mill Creek 5, Duluth 0
DULUTH -- Mill Creek swept Duluth 5-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. Quentin Lavender at No. 1, Adam Gonterman at No. 2 and Tyler Abbott at No. 3 got wins in singles. Brad Adkins and Travis Hanes at No. 1 and J.J. Needham and Jake Foley at No. 2 took wins in doubles for the Hawks (10-4, 2-1).
Archer 4, Dacula 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- In a rain-shortened match, Archer took a 4-0 win over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA. Aaron Harris at No. 1 and Dan Kane at No. 3 got singles wins. Michael Muller and John Garrett at No. 1 and Jordan Wyton and Josh Kade at No. 2 were victorious in doubles for the Tigers (6-5, 2-3).
Collins Hill 5, Norcross 0
SUWANEE -- Collins Hill cruised to a 5-0 win over Norcross in Region 7-AAAAA. Chris Clark at No. 1, Tyler Kallgren at No. 2 and Ian Melnik at No. 3 won in singles. Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney at No. 1 doubles and Alec Rahmanian and Peyton Rushing at No. 2 doubles had wins for the Eagles (10-2, 3-0).
St. Francis 4, Providence 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- St. Francis took a 4-1 win over Providence. Emory Williams picked up a victory at No. 1 singles for the Stars (5-5).
BOYS GOLF
Peachtree Ridge 157, Collins Hill 159
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Alex Simpson fired a 35 for Collins Hill, but Peachtree Ridge pulled out a 157-159 win over Eagles (5-1) at the Collins Hill Golf Course.
Providence 185, Shiloh 193
SNELLVILLE -- Colin Grant fired a 40 as Providence edged Shiloh 185-193 at Country Club of Gwinnett. The Stars improved to 5-2 with the win.
GIRLS GOLF
Collins Hill 99, Peachtree Ridge 100
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Collins Hill squeezed by Peachtree Ridge 99-100 at the Collins Hill Golf Course. Ellen Min shot a 44 to lead Collins Hill (1-4).
BOYS SOCCER
Hebron 3, Lakeview 2
GAINESVILLE -- Chris Austin had two goals and one assist as Hebron Christian knocked off Lakeview Acaedemy 3-2 in Area 5-A action. Ben Ungerer added a goal, while Ryan Thomas and Bailey Pinto each had an assist for the Lions (4-4, 2-1).
Wesleyan 2, Arabia Mountain 0
NORCROSS -- Eric Sunderman had a goal and an assist as Wesleyan defeated Arabia Mountain 2-0. Cort Coxhead added a first-half goal for Wesleyan on Sunderman's assist and Drew Sutton picked up an assist on Sunderman's second-half goal. Carter Flachbarth got the win in goal as the Wolves improved to 6-2-1 overall.
GIRLS SOCCER
Collins Hill 5, Duluth 0
SUWANEE -- Mariah Dickey had two goals and an assist as Collins Hill rolled past Duluth 5-0 in Area 7-AAAAA. Paige Hoover, Loren Mitchell and Jessica Dacey each added a goal for Collins Hill (5-4, 1-0). Halla Jibreen and Kamliah Dalbi combined for a shutout in goal for the Eagles.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Peachtree Ridge 21, North Forsyth 7
SUWANEE -- Michelle Fortier and Rachel Harper each scored six goals as Peachtree Ridge hammered North Forsyth 21-7. Fortier added two assists as the Lions improved to 7-1 overall.
Brookwood 11, Collins Hill 10
SNELLVILLE -- Lindsey Thomson scored her fourth goal of the game with a minute to go as Brookwood edged Collins Hill 11-10. Thomson also added an assist as the Broncos moved to 6-2 on the season. Paige Miller scored three goals, while Lauren Clay had two goals. Erin Wynn and Hannah White each had a goal for Brookwood. Brittany Marquis chipped in two assists for the Broncos.
Grayson 13, Archer 3
LOGANVILLE -- Hannah Wood had four goals and one assist as Grayson defeated Archer 13-3. Anna LaCavera had three goals and one assist while Blakelee Bartik had two goals and one assist as the Rams moved to 9-0 on the season. Austyn Gorski added two goals for Grayson. Taylor Denton and Erica Welty combined for seven saves for the Rams.
Duluth 24, Rockdale Co. 4
CONYERS -- Grace Anderson and Whitney Brown each scored five goals as Duluth dominated Rockdale County in a 24-4 win. Jessica Seonne added two goals and two assists for the Wildcats (5-6).
BOYS LACROSSE
Grayson 20, Archer 1
LOGANVILLE --Zach Dirkse had three goals and two assists as Grayson pounded Archer 20-1. Zach Cerniche added three goals while Ben Mertz, Thatcher Smith, Douglas Bieber and Nick Peters each had two goals. Mertz also added a pair of assists and Smith also had an assist for the Rams (5-1). Josh Parris and Danny Tressler combined to give up just one goal for Grayson.
