ATLANTA (AP) -- Twenty of the state's best spellers will gather in Atlanta for the 51st annual Georgia spelling bee.
The event, sponsored by the Georgia Association of Educators, is Friday at Georgia State University's student center. The winner will go on to represent Georgia in the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. in May.
The winner also gets $1,000, an Amazon Kindle and an Amazon gift card. The runners-up will receive $500 and a $50 Amazon gift card.
The bee begins at 11 a.m.
