PREP ROUNDUP: Garcia's four goals lead GAC girls over North

NORCROSS -- Rachel Garcia gave Greater Atlanta Christian's girls soccer team all of its offense with four goals on Tuesday night as the Spartans held off North Gwinnett 4-2. The win kept GAC unbeaten at 8-0.

Assisting Garcia was Taylor Wagnon, Danielle Marcano, Elizabeth White and Mollie Arrendale. White also had a good game at keeper against North's high-pressure offense with 10 saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Mill Creek 0, Westminster 0

ATLANTA -- Neither team could come through with a goal on Tuesday night as Mill Creek and Westminster battled each other to a 0-0 tie in a non-region meeting.

Helping to keep Westminster from scoring was keeper Paolo Rivera with four saves. The tie moved Mill Creek's record to 4-2-1.

Grayson 2, Providence 0

LILBURN -- Grayson keeper Cadye Picklesimer saved eight shots on Tuesday afternoon in helping the Rams shut out Providence 2-0 in a non-region battle.

Goals for the Rams (6-2-1) were scored by Josie Ouellette and Chelsea Norton.

Lanier 2, North Hall 0

GAINESVILLE -- Lanier keeper Alli Raez recorded her fourth shutout of the season on Tuesday as the Longhorns topped North Hall 2-0.

Maddie Corley scored the first goal off an assist from Meg Gregory and later assisted the second goal scored by Tori Wyant. The win evened Lanier's record 4-4.

Buford 4, Apalachee 0

BUFORD -- Buford upped its record to 6-3 with a 4-1 win over Apalachee on Tuesday night in a non-region match.

Melissa Sullivan and Ceely Coker provided the offense for Buford with two goals each.

BOYS SOCCER

Parkview 2, Berkmar 1

LILBURN -- Parkview's Abel Nguyen scored in the 75th minute to lift the Panthers 2-1 over Berkmar in Region 8-AAAAA action on Tuesday night.

Parkview (4-2-3, 1-0) took a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal from Raymond Muro before Berkmar's Kofi Twumasig scored to tie it at 1-1. Diego Casillas recorded the win at keeper.

Central 1, Shiloh 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Charlie DeLoatche saved five shots at keeper on Tuesday night in helping Central Gwinnett shut out Shiloh 1-0 in both team's Region 8-AAAAA opener.

Tyler Budd provided the lone goal for Central (5-3-1, 1-0).

Brookwood 7, Archer 1

SNELLVILLE -- Trevor Mooney scored three goals and Kelson Brunelle added two more on Tuesday as Brookwood ran past Archer 7-1 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Brahan Gamarra and Benaiah Shaw each added a goal for Brookwood (6-2, 1-0), while Mitch Hotop delivered two assists.

Zach Wachholz scored the only goal for Archer.

South 2, Dacula 0

DACULA -- South Gwinnett opened its Region 8-AAAAA schedule with a 2-0 shutout of Dacula on Tuesday night.

Scoring for South (6-2, 1-0) were Sekow Thornell and Jon Pecos, while keeper Jaren Varney recorded the shutout.

GAC 2, North 2

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian and North Gwinnett finished in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday night.

GAC (7-2-1) picked up goals from Nate Ream and Mitchell Singletary.

Buford 3, Apalachee 1

BUFORD -- Three different players scored for Buford on Tuesday night as the Wolves held off Apalachee 3-1.

Scoring for Buford (6-2) were Willy Uriostegui, Esgardo Arroyo and Matt Bonadies, while Edgar Villafuerte helped with an assist.

Wesleyan 3, Fellowship 0

NORCROSS -- Eric Sunderman put in two goals on Tuesday night to lead Wesleyan to a 3-0 shutout over Fellowship Christian.

Cole Warren added the third goal for Wesleyan (5-2-1, 4-1), while Cort Coxhead finished with two assists.

Providence 2, Grayson 1

LILBURN -- Providence built a 2-0 lead in the first half and made it stand as the Stars edged Grayson 2-1 on Tuesday night in a non-region battle.

Will Lowndes scored first for the Stars (4-3) 14 minutes in the first half when he collected a loose ball off the Grayson keeper from a shot by Ted Perry. Zion Gray provided the second goal when he scored off a corner kick.

Grayson rallied with a goal 40 seconds into the second half, but keeper Evan Flowers' six saves helped stave off the Rams.

BASEBALL

Meadowcreek 5, Berkmar 0

NORCROSS -- Chris Custodio of Meadowcreek delivered a complete game on Tuesday, striking out three and allowing four hits in leading the Mustangs 5-0 over Berkmar.

Cameron Bourbonnais led the offense for Meadowcreek (4-6) with a 2-for-2, three-RBI night. Eric Arp added a hit and an RBI, while Custodio, Shea Wilkey and Andy Mercado each finished with a hit.

Hebron 10, Towns Co. 0

DACULA -- Three Hebron pitchers combined for a one-hitter on Tuesday night in leading the Lions to a 10-0 win over Towns County in six innings.

Andrew Molnar started and went four innings for Hebron, striking out eight with no hits. Michael Dussling pitched a hitless fifth inning, while Drew Coker struck out two and allowed one hit in the sixth.

Leading the offense was Jordan Hillyer, who went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer, three doubles and five RBIs. P.J. Westbury finished 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs, while Tyler Hutch added two hits and two runs. Hebron improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-A.

Killian Hill 7, Covenant 6

LILBURN -- Killian Hill evened its record at 3-3 on Tuesday by edging Covenant Christian 7-6.

Adam Madeland started and went five innings for Killian Hill, allowing two earned runs on two hits with seven strikeouts. Alex Attebery pitched the final two innings, allowing no hits and no earned runs with four strikeouts in picking up the win.

Preston Attebery and Samuel Winston each went 2-for-4 as Killian Hill finished with nine hits on offense.

Providence 10, Central 0

LILBURN -- Austin Smith of Providence went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs on Tuesday to lead the Stars to a 10-0 shutout over Central Gwinnett in five innings.

Austin Loyd added two more hits with a double and a home run, including three runs, while Josh Carter finished 2-for-2 with a double and RBI. Charlie Scott also finished with 2-for-3 with a run.

Patrick Smith pitched all five innings for the win, allowing one hit with two strikeouts. Providence evened its record at 4-4.

BOYS TENNIS

Brookwood 5, Archer 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brookwood topped Archer 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Rhodes Jordan Park.

Mark Guentert, Drew Wendel and Amarin Montroy each won in singles play, while doubles winners were Ryan Pridgeon and Will McWhirt at No. 1 and Christian Gochnauer and Jody Chan at No. 2. Brookwood stayed unbeaten at 10-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Central 4, Dacula 1

DACULA -- Elijah Clarke won at No. 2 singles and Tony Nguyen at No. 3 singles to help Central Gwinnett to a 4-1 in over Dacula on Tuesday.

Central (7-4, 4-2) also took both doubles matches, getting wins from No. 1 Chris Morrison and Tyler Nguyen and No. 2 David Johnson and Aaron Manila.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Mountain View 0

DULUTH -- Peachtree Ridge improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in Region 7-AAAAA on Tuesday with a 5-0 sweep of Mountain View at Epic Tennis Center.

Singles winners were Alex Makarenko, Kevin Lim and David Wang. Taking doubles matches were the No. 1 team of Taylor Foote and Jacob Kukler and the No. 2 squad of Brock Beisel and Alex Peed.

Collins Hill 5, Mill Creek 0

HOSCHTON -- Collin Hill's Christ Clark, Tyler Kallgren and Ian Melnik all recorded singles wins on Tuesday as the Eagles swept Mill Creek 5-0.

Recording doubles wins for Collins Hill (9-2, 2-0) were the No. 1 team of Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney and the No. 2 team of Alec Rahmanian and Peyton Rushing.

Buford 5, Clarkston 0

BUFORD -- Colby West, Rob Hunter and Alex Turner of Buford all won in singles action on Tuesday in helping the Wolves to a 5-0 sweep of Clarkston.

Doubles winners for the Wolves (9-1) were the team of Josh Thompson and Skyler Wilson and the pair of Jabin Stepp and Nicholas Becker.

Wesleyan 5, Pinecrest 0

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan topped the .500 mark at 6-5 on Tuesday with a 5-0 shutout over Pinecrest Academy.

Singles winners for the Wolves were Jeffrey Chang, Austin Zakas and Kris Ippolito. Doubles winners were the No. 1 team of Zach Taylor and Andrew Dorman and the No. 2 pair of Brooks Prettyman and Palmer Brasher.

Hebron 5, Athens Christian 0

ATHENS -- Hebron stayed unbeaten at 6-0 on Tuesday with a 5-0 sweep of Athens Christian.

Jerod Beck, Josh Beck and James Everson all won in singles play for Hebron, while Justin Starner and Johnell McLean won at No. 1 doubles. Austin Dobbs and Stephen Wood followed with a No. 2 doubles win.

GIRLS TENNIS

Mill Creek 5, Collins Hill 0

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek continued its strong season on Tuesday with a 5-0 sweep of Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA.

Posting singles wins for Mill Creek (12-1, 3-0) were Madison Hahn, Allison Weaver and Lauren Atkinson, while winning in doubles action were Cailey Stevens and Mallory Kolts at No. 1 and Natalie Martinez and Abbe Jordan at No. 2.

Norcross 4, Duluth 1

NORCROSS -- Norcross won two singles matches and two doubles matches to post a 4-1 win over Duluth on Tuesday.

Singles winners for Norcross (5-3, 1-1) were Stacy Lackey at No. 1 and Kristie Teoh at No. 2. Taking the doubles matches were Maria Lackey and Heather Shine at No. 1 and Emma Wheaton and Amanda Northrup at No. 2.

Duluth's point came from a No. 3 singles win by Caroline Sweney.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Mountain View 0

DULUTH -- Jessica Northcutt, Jena Kelly and Mare Frances Greenwood each posted singles wins on Tuesday in helping Peachtree Ridge to a 5-0 win over Mountain View at Epic Tennis Center.

The Lions (4-1, 2-0) also picked up doubles wins from Ali and Erin Mills at No. 1 and Rachel Anderson and Kelsey Greess at No. 2.

Brookwood 5, Archer 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brookwood upped its record to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in Region 8-AAAAA on Tuesday by beating Archer 5-0 at Rhodes Jordan Park.

Getting singles wins for the Broncos were Liz Slaughter, Maddie Stanitzke and Allie Gardner, while doubles wins were posted by Kenan Smith and Katie Kraft at No. 1 and Kerryn Roone and Hannah Howell at No. 2.

Buford 5, Clarkston 0

BUFORD -- Buford improved to 6-4 on Tuesday with a 5-0 sweep of Clarkston.

Winning in singles play were Kelley Cohron, Annalea Stevens and Savannah Whaley, while doubles winners were Rebecca Hendrix and Jessica Thompson at No. 1 and Annie Counts and Abby Hundley at No. 2.

Wesleyan 5, Pinecrest 0

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan logged singles wins from Megan Kelly, Savannah Strickland and Sarah Settlage on Tuesday as the Wolves rolled to a 5-0 win over Pinecrest Academy.

Katie English and Julie Rodriguez also won in doubles play for Wesleyan (8-3), as did the pair of Katie McLaughlin and Dee Dee Seaman.

Athens Christian 3, Hebron 2

ATHENS -- Hebron fell short on Tuesday with a narrow 3-2 loss at Athens Christian.

Scoring for Hebron (1-7) was Michelle Kniffen at No. 1 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Emily Cochran and Abbey Stewart.

Collins Hill 23, Mountain View 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Holin Axley scored three goals on Tuesday night in helping Collins Hill run away for a 23-0 win over Mountain View.

Abe Heller and Tyler Agee each added three goals for the Eagles (3-4).

Wesleyan 19, Fellowship 8

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan received goals from seven different players on Tuesday as the Wolves (3-2, 2-1) pulled away for a 19-8 win over Fellowship Christian.

Blake Davis led the attack by scoring six goals and assisting five more. Jake Miller added three goals and three assists, while Matt Zimmerman finished with three goals and an assist.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Duluth 13, Parkview 7

DULUTH -- Duluth's Ali Cole had a huge night with nine goals and two assists on Tuesday to lead the Wildcats 13-7 over Parkview.

Noah Holt added two goals and two assists for Duluth (4-6), while Grace Andersen and Rebecca Graham each added a goal and an assist. Paige Falkowski also helped with 16 saves at keeper.

Parkview (2-7) was led by Victoria Petrassi with four goals, while Kelly Spevacek finished with two. Mariah Smith added one goal for Parkview, while keeper Lisa McManus recorded 17 saves.

GIRLS GOLF

Mill Creek tops Norcross

DULUTH -- Garnett Glaser of Mill Creek carded a 47 on Tuesday as the Hawks defeated Norcross 101 to 120 at Berkeley Hills.

Kaylee Harrison added a 54 for the Hawks, while Camille Streeter led Norcross with a 54.

Parkview gets past Grayson

MONROE -- Parkview's Leah Chandley finished with a 46 on Tuesday afternoon to lead the Panthers to a 94 to 98 win over Grayson at Providence Country Club.Julie Spangler of Grayson tied for the day's low score with a round of 46.

Peachtree Ridge downs Lanier

DULUTH -- Peachtree Ridge recorded a win on Tuesday with a 103 to 135 defeat of Lanier at Sugarloaf.

Christi Lee led the Lions with 51, while Leesa Quinlan followed with 52.

Shiloh's Hoyle shoots 43

TUCKER -- Cierra Hoyle of Shiloh finished with 43 on Tuesday as the Generals defeated Meadowcreek 43 to 49 in a one-on-one match at Heritage Golf Links.

Competing for Meadwocreek was Freddie Banks, who shot 49.

Hebron tops Commerce and Prince Avenue

COMMERCE -- Hebron's Darby Gentry finished with a 39 on Tuesday as the Lions beat both Commerce and Prince Avenue at Double Oaks.

Commerce was second with a 56, finishing just ahead of Prince Avenue at 57.

BOYS GOLF

Shiloh tops Meadowcreek

TUCKER -- Shiloh's Matthew Cyran carded a 46 on Tuesday as the Generals went on to defeat Meadowcreek 99 to 104 at Heritage Golf Links.

Tommy Blackwell finished with 53 for Shiloh, while scorers for Meadowcreek were Christopher Nunez with 46 and Michael Banks with 58.

Grayson edges Parkview

MONROE -- Connor Dickinson of Grayson finished with 37 on Tuesday afternoon in helping Grayson to a 155 to 160 win over Parkview at Providence Country Club.

Carlos Adkinson of Parkview also finished with 37.

Hebron wins three-way match

COMMERCE -- Hebron totalled 188 on Tuesday, finishing ahead of both Commerce and Prince Avenue in a match at Double Oaks.

Casey Price led Hebron with a 41, while Commerce's Dylan Young earned low-medalist honors with 37. Commerce was second with 190, while Prince Avenue was third at 196.
