Kroger raises $170K for Relay for Life

ATLANTA -- Stores in Kroger's Atlanta division raised more than $170,000 for the American Cancer Society during this year's sales of "footprint" icons.

From Feb. 5 through 18, customers and associates were able to purchase the paper feet for $1. Funds raised will go to ACS' Relay for Life. Kroger's Atlanta division includes 215 stores in Georgia, South Carolina, northern Alabama and eastern Tennessee.

"We are extremely grateful to our customers and associates for their generous contributions during this campaign," said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger's Atlanta division. "These dollars will help in the fight against cancer and advance the American Cancer Society's mission to create communities with less cancer and more birthdays for everyone."

Gwinnett County's Relay for Life is the largest in the world. It will be held May 4 and 5 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.
