SNELLVILLE -- Eastside Medical Center was recently recognized as a breast imaging "center of excellence" by the American College of Radiology.
The designation is given to breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound. It is garnered by a peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
The designation recognizes that a facility "has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs."
"We are very pleased to have earned this distinction," said Dr. Beth Kruse, Eastside's lead interpreting radiologist of diagnostic imaging services. "This accreditation demonstrates that we have voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be sure our hospital exceeds accepted standards."
"It proves that our staff is well qualified through education and certification to perform and interpret your medical images," she added.
