SUWANEE -- Just in time for March Madness, Tilted Kilt's new location in Suwanee opened to the public on Monday.
Rick Mechtly of Lawrenceville chose to visit the sports bar to celebrate his buddy's birthday.
"We've heard about Tilted Kilt, and just wanted to see what it was all about," Mechtly said.
The restaurant, at 1500 Satellite Blvd., boasts three projectors and 37 televisions, said Assistant General Manager Michael Gilbert.
Late Monday afternoon, the televisions had spring training baseball, soccer and basketball highlights. Gilbert said the crowds had been steady since it opened at 11 a.m.
To prepare for the opening, Gilbert said the restaurant had a friends and family night on Friday, and a V.I.P. outing on Saturday that welcomed local dignitaries.
"We've had a lot of good feedback, everybody is excited with how fast the food is coming out," Gilbert said.
This is the eighth location in metro Atlanta.
Tilted Kilt is a Scottish-Irish themed pub that features beer, fish and chips, meat loaf and Shepherd's pie. The staff wears a kilt, white knee socks, plaid bra and exposed midriff. The Tilted Kilt concept originated in Las Vegas in 2003.
This location has about 120 employees, Gilbert said.
Gilbert said the restaurant will have a grand opening in about a month.
"I hope it lasts longer than the other places that have been here," Mechtly said. "I'm Presbyterian, so the Scottish theme appeals to me."
Gilbert added that the bar will be an official Pittsburgh Steelers bar, and will serve Iron City Light beer.
