SUWANEE -- The Suwanee Police Department is offering a free program next month designed to make young drivers better drivers. The deadline for registration, which is mandatory, is March 23.
The two-hour program will be held the evening of April 12 at the Suwanee Police Department. It aims to "give young drivers fresh attitudes and more confidence behind the wheel," Suwanee spokeswoman Lynne DeWilde said.
The course is a collaborative effort of Suwanee Police Department's Georgia Teens Ride with PRIDE (Parents Reducing Injuries and Driver Error) program and the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute.
It's designed to make parents more aware of their own driving behaviors and assist them in helping teens become safe drivers, while offering strategies for required supervised practice driving time, DeWilde said.
Class space is limited and advanced registration is mandatory. A parent is required to accompany participating teens. The class begins at 6:30 p.m.
