PREP ROUNDUP: Peachtree Ridge beats South 1-0 in 9 innings

SNELLVILLE -- It took a little longer than normal, but Billy Best finally knocked in Peachtree Ridge's run in the ninth inning Thursday night as the Lions beat South Gwinnett 1-0 in baseball.

Best drove in Cole Rives with a one-out single, the second of his two hits for Peachtree Ridge (4-3). Tyler Haswell pitched five innings and allowed two hits to get the no-decision. Ryne Inman struck out five in three innings of relief to get the win (1-0). He allowed one hit. Colt Ramsey struck out one in the ninth to get his second save.

For the Comets (4-4), Brandon Matics pitched eight shutout innings and gave up three hits to go with three strikeouts. Chris McClure was the losing pitcher. Mason Hart, Adrian Martinez and Duncan Whitehead each had one hit for South.

BASEBALL

Campbell 14, Meadowcreek 4

SMYRNA -- Meadowcreek's baseball team lost to Campbell 14-4 Thursday. Jose Ponce was 2-for-3 to lead the Mustangs (3-6). Shea Wilkey, Chris Custodio and Johnathan Arnold each had one hit.

Mountain View 4, Archer 2

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Peyton Fore had two RBIs to lead Mountain View to a 4-2 win over Archer Thursday. Tyler Bethune and Crew Peery each added two hits for the Bears (5-0). Garry Gwaltney (2-0) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 innings to get the win. He also struck out five. Joey Bell picked up his first save.

GAC 10, North Atlanta 3

ATLANTA -- Austin Miller's two-run homer was his first of the season for Greater Atlanta Christian as the Spartans beat North Atlanta 10-3 Thursday. Rafe Chapple was 3-for-4 for GAC (5-2). Will Parker and Daino Deas each had two hits. Erick Smotherman allowed two runs in four innings to get the win.

GIRLS TENNIS

Dacula 4, Shiloh 1

SNELLVILLE -- Dacula swept the singles matches in a 4-1 win over Shiloh on Thursday. Nicki Neal, Alissa Leugers and Daniella Ramirez were winners for the Falcons (2-6). Kari Caskey and Michelle Pelaez also won at No. 2 doubles.

GAC 5, Buford 0

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian shut out Buford 5-0 Thursday. Remi Andre, Julia Bryan and Phoenix Gandy won singles matches for the Spartans (2-2). In doubles play, GAC picked up wins from the teams of Rachel Chupp and Meghan Mitchell, and Jenny Armstrong and Ann Puntkattalee.

Collins Hill 5, Meadowcreek 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Collins Hill blanked Meadowcreek 5-0 Thursday. Abbie Wehr, Ashley Johnston and Lindsay Doktor were singles winners for the Eagles (4-6, 1-0). Chelsea Sizemore and Gabriela Orellana took earned a point at No. 1 doubles, while team of Prachi Patel and Dani Lunceford won at No. 2 doubles.

Providence 3, Parkview 2

LILBURN -- Providence slipped past Parkview 3-2 Thursday. Vani Crist and Alex Schlesener won singles matches for the Stars (7-1), while Katherine Harris and Carly Dubay won the No. 2 doubles match.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Duluth 0

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge won its region opener with a 5-0 victory over Duluth on Thursday. Jessica Northcutt, Jena Kelly and Isabella Hoskins earned wins in the singles matches for the Lions (3-1, 1-0). Ali and Erin Mills won at No. 1 doubles, as did the No. 2 team of Rachel Anderson and Riley Guise.

Berkmar 3, Archer 2

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Berkmar held off Archer 3-2 Thursday. Gabrielle Chan and Dalena Nguyen won singles matches, while Serina Kurian and Jenny Wong won the No. 2 doubles match for the Patriots (5-3). Kimberly Anderson won the No. 2 singles match for the Tigers, and Lauren Dalton and Kaitlyn Balsamides won the No. 1 doubles match.

Mt. Pisgah 5, Wesleyan 0

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan was shut out by Mt. Pisgah 5-0 Thursday.

Brookwood 5, Central 0

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood remained unbeaten in region play with a 5-0 win over Central Gwinnett on Thursday. Gabby Griffith, Karryn Roome and Kenan Smith were singles winners for the Broncos (6-3, 4-0). Abby Dudman and Allie Gardner won at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 pair of Hannah Mason and Hannah Howell won their match.

Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 0

DACULA -- Mill Creek swept Mountain View 5-0 to win its second straight region match. Madison Hahn, Allison Weaver and Lauren Atkinson won the singles matches for the Hawks (11-1, 2-0). Cailey Stevens and Mallory Kolts earned the win at No. 1 doubles, while Natalie Martinez and Abbi Jordan took care of the No. 2 match.

DACULA -- Hebron lost to George Walton 5-0 Thursday.

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian picked up its first win by beating Buford 4-1 and gave the Wolves their first loss of the season. David Burdett and Peyton McGuire took care of the singles matches for the Spartans (1-3). Andrew Kim and Alex Soh won at No. 1 doubles, while Jared Metzger and Daniel Ray won at No. 2 doubles. Rob Hunter won the No. 2 singles match for the Wolves (8-1).

Collins Hill 5, Meadowcreek 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Collins Hill won its region opener with a 5-0 victory over Meadowcreek on Thursday. Chris Clark, Tyler Kallgren and Evan Padvorac won singles matches for the Eagles (8-2, 1-0). In doubles, Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney won the No. 1 match, while Peyton Rushing and Josh Jackson won the No. 2 match.

Archer 5, Berkmar 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer swept Berkmar 5-0 Thursday to win its first region match. Aaron Harris, Alex Butenko and Dan Kane were singles winners for the Tigers (4-5, 1-2). Michael Muller and John Garrett won at No. 1 doubles as did the No. 2 pair of Jordan Wyton and Josh Cade.

Parkview 3, Providence 2

LILBURN -- Parkview held off Providence 3-2 Thursday. For the Stars (4-4), Jon North and Emory Williams won singles matches.

Dacula 4, Shiloh 0

SNELLVILLE -- Dacula shut out Shiloh 4-0 Thursday in a match that was shortened due to darkness. Matt Nelson and Spencer Richardson were singles winners for the Falcons (3-6, 2-1). Alex Chastain and Devan Clark won at No. 1 doubles, while Jesse Coggins and John Cobb won the No. 2 match.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Duluth 0

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge beat Duluth 5-0 in the region opener Thursday. For the Lions (2-2, 1-0), Alex Makarenko, Jashith Choppara and David Wang won the singles matches. Jacob Kukler and Taylor Foote won at No. 1 doubles. Alex Fernandez and Alex Peed earned a point at No. 2 doubles.

Brookwood 5, Central 0

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood moved its season-long winning streak to nine with a 5-0 shutout of Central on Thursday. Will George, Drew Wendel and Jody Chan were singles winners for the Broncos (9-0, 4-0). Matt Jones and David Brown took care of the No. 1 doubles match, while Amarin Montroy and Ryan Pridgeon won the No. 2 doubles match.

Mt. Pisgah 3, Wesleyan 2

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan lost to Mt. Pisgah 3-2 Thursday. Andrew Dorman and Zach Taylor won at No. 1 doubles, while Palmer Brasher and Brooks Prettyman won the No. 2 match.

Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 0

DACULA -- Mill Creek won its region opener with a 5-0 shutout of Mountain View on Thursday. Singles winners for the Hawks (10-2, 1-0) were Quentin Lavender, Adam Gonterman and Brad Adkins. Travis Hanes and J.J. Needham won at No. 1 doubles, while T.J. Millonig and Jake Foley won at No. 2 doubles.

Hebron 5, George Walton 0

DACULA -- Hebron remained unbeaten after a 5-0 win over George Walton Thursday. Jerod Beck, Josh Beck and James Everson won the singles matches for the Lions (5-0). Justin Starner and Johnell McLean won the No. 1 doubles match. Dino Favara and Austin Dobbs earned the point at No. 2 doubles.

Lim helps Duluth over North

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Diane Lim shot a 37 to help Duluth knock off North Gwinnett 82-94 Thursday at Northwood County Club Thursday. Alex Hudson shot a 45 for the Bulldogs.

Hebron wins fourth straight

HOSCHTON -- Hebron beat Mountain View 71-87 Thursday at Reunion Country Club. The match was called after eight holes due to darkness. Darby Gentry shot a one-over-par round of 33 for the Lions (4-0). Sarah Buice had a 42 for the Bears (4-2).

Mill Creek beats Norcross

DACULA -- Mill Creek defeated Norcross 95-111 Thursday at Hamilton Mill Golf Course. Katie Plummer shot a 45 to pace the Hawks, while Emily Danielson shot a 53 for the Blue Devils.

DiPaola shoots under par in North win

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Sam DiPaola shot a 34 as North Gwinnett beat Duluth 150-181 Thursday at Northwood Country Club. Sean Derossett fired a 39 to lead the Wildcats.

Mountain View tops Hebron

HOSCHTON -- Mountain View knocked off Hebron 175-188 Thursday at Reunion Country Club. Cole Parks shot a 41 to lead the Bears (3-3), while Casey Price also shot a 41 for the Lions.

Pence leads Hawks to win over Norcross

DACULA -- Dylan Pence shot a 37 as Mill Creek beat Norcross 163-183 Thursday at Hamilton Mill Golf Course. Clay Trocchio's 40 was the low round for the Blue Devils.

Collins Hill beats Apalachee, stays unbeaten

STATHAM -- Collins Hill won its fourth straight with a 158-178 win over Apalachee at the Georgia Club Thursday. Mark Murphy led the Eagles (4-0) with a one-over-par 37. Patrick Hilton added a 38. Joseph Morris led the Wildcats with a 43.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Parkview 10, GAC 8

LILBURN -- Kelly Spevacek scored three goals as Parkview beat Greater Atlanta Christian 10-8 Thursday. Victoria Petrassi added two goals for the Panthers (2-6). Goalie Lisa McManus made 11 saves.

Mill Creek 15, Archer 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Tori Windom scored four goals as Mill Creek beat Archer 15-3 Thursday. Noelle Allen added two goals and three assists for the Hawks (7-0). Tyler Rediger and Emily Hallberg also scored two goals each. Chandler Griffin made 10 saves.

Grayson 12, Duluth 8

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson is still unbeaten after knocking off Duluth 12-8 Thursday. Anna LaCavera scored six goals to lead the Rams (8-0). Hannah Wood added four goals and an assist. Austyn Gorski and Blakelee Bartik also scored. Taylor Denton made 13 saves for Grayson.

Ali Cole had five goals and added two assists for the Wildcats (3-6). Rebecca Grahm scored three times.

Peachtree Ridge 13, Lambert 7

SUWANEE -- Michelle Fortier scored five goals and had an assists as Peachtree Ridge knocked off Lambert 13-7 Thursday. Darby Frisbie added three goals and an assists, while Devin Strickland also scored three times for the Lions (5-1). Rachel Harper had two goals and dished out three assists.

BOYS LACROSSE

GAC 14, Collins Hill 13

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian needed a 14-13 win over Collins Hill Thursday to stay unbeaten. Gunner Cape had four goals and three assists to lead the Spartans (5-0). Eric Reynolds also had four goals to go with two assists. Whit Anderson scored three times and dished out three assists, while Sam Harte put in two goals and helped on another. Stewart Butler made 13 saves.

Holin Axley led all scorers with five goals for the Eagles (2-4). Abe Heller, Andrew Martinez and Ryan Flores each scored twice.

GIRLS SOCCER

South Gwinnett 3, Duluth 1

DULUTH -- South Gwinnett's girls soccer team won its third straight match with a 3-1 win over Duluth on Tuesday night.

Kelly Geary scored two goals and Fatima Tarawally also scored for the Comets, who got strong defense from Miranda Rolon and Sade Martin. South goalie Mallory Sayre also made seven saves.Shannon Coulombe scored Duluth's lone goal.

Hebron 10, Social Circle 0

DACULA -- Hebron had six players score goals in a 10-0 win over Social Circle on Thursday. Alexa Allen, Jordan Lowery, Alex Propst and Hannah Wilbanks all scored two goals for the Lions (3-2-1, 2-0). Amber Skidgell earned the shutout.

DACULA -- Hebron picked up its first region win with a 10-0 drubbing of Social Circle on Thursday. Ryan Notheis scored three goals to lead the Lions (3-4, 1-1). Andrew Thompson added two goals, while Cole Redman dished out a pair of assists. Noah Blalock made seven saves to get the shutout.

Shiloh 3, Chamblee 2

SNELLVILLE -- Shiloh had three different players score goals in its 3-2 win over Chamblee on Monday. Zach Pruitt scored in the 37th minute for the Generals (3-3-1), Naim Saleh scored in the 44th minute and Christian Andino scored in the 64th minute. Esmir Karic was the goalkeeper.

Duluth 2, Shiloh 1 PK

DULUTH -- Mauricio Martinez scored once in regulation and once in the shoot out as Duluth beat Shiloh 2-1 Thursday. The Wildcats (4-1-1) won the shoot out 3-1. Kevin Posmer and Nikolai Iotov also scored the other goals. Goalie Alex Nava stopped two of the penalty kicks.
