LAWRENCEVILLE -- Add another homicide to Gwinnett's quickly climbing tally in 2012.
Police announced Thursday that 27-year-old Alex Delgado Ramos -- who was shot at 10 p.m. Sunday outside the CVS Pharmacy at 1187 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville -- had died two days later. Ramos' girlfriend called the incident in to police, who believe the shooting "seems to have taken place during the course of a robbery," spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.
Investigators are now looking for a black man who fled the scene in a newer model, silver or gold Chevrolet Impala. At the time of the shooting, he wore a black hat, a black jacket with a white stripe across the back and down the sleeves, dark blue jeans and dark shoes.
Further details were hard to come by.
"A good description of the suspect is not available," Smith said.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 770-513-5300.
Ramos' death makes nine Gwinnett homicides in a span of 15 days, starting Feb. 21 when a lone gunman murdered his two sisters and their husbands at a Norcross spa before killing himself. Eight days later, three men were killed during a believed drug deal gone bad at a Lawrenceville apartment complex.
Wednesday, investigators believe 57-year-old Dennis Puckett stabbed his sister to death inside their Buford residence.
Unofficially, there have been 14 homicides in Gwinnett County this year -- nearly halfway to the 2011 total of 29.
