Parkview's Brettschneider signs with MLS' Revolution

The New England Revolution signed Parkview grad Blake Brettschneider, a 22-year-old forward, to a Major League Soccer contract on Tuesday.

Brettschneider, a former college standout at South Carolina, was waived in early February by D.C. United, which drafted him in the second round of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. He made 15 appearances with United last season, including nine starts, and had a goal and two assists. He also had three goals in MLS Reserve League games.

Following his release from United, Brettschneider began playing with the Revolution on a trial basis before earning a contract.

Brettschneider was the Conference USA co-MVP and offensive player of the year as a South Carolina senior. He had 19 goals and 17 assists in his college career.
